Welcome to Our Greeley, Colorado Bed and Breakfast

"Come as Strangers, Leave as Friends."

The Sod Buster Inn has all the charm and elegance of a large Victorian house with all the conveniences of a small modern hotel. Located in the Historic Monroe Corridor of downtown Greeley, this charming bed and breakfast will impress even the most discerning of guests. The updated house sits on the original homestead of one of Greeley's earlier settlers, George W. Currier, and is a well-known and beloved Greeley landmark. The Sod Buster Inn is a unique, octagonal three-story inn with a wonderful 360-degree wraparound veranda, built following traditional Victorian architecture. The Inn's unusual octagonal shape represents regeneration, rebirth, and renewal. - Read More

"It is said that an octagon house was cheaper to build, allowed for additional living space, received more natural light, was easier to heat, and remained cooler in the summer. These benefits all derive from the geometry of an octagon: the shape encloses space efficiently, minimizing external surface area and consequently heat loss and gain, building costs etc. A circle is the most efficient shape, but difficult to build and awkward to furnish, so an octagon is a sensible approximation. Victorian builders were used to building 135-degree corners, as in the typical bay window, and could easily adapt to an octagonal plan." - Wikipedia

"The Sod Buster Inn is a far more elegant and sophisticated B&B than its homespun name suggests... owners Derek and Stephanie Boulton are delightful hosts. They have spared no expense to provide fine accommodations in this newly constructed octagonal building in the historic district, and yet rates are very reasonable."
